Libraries Rock: Next week at Ascension Libraries

This year’s Teen Summer Reading Theme is Libraries Rock, and we have all sorts of programs this summer that will rock your world!  On Wednesday, July 18th, at 2:30 PM in Galvez, enjoy the beloved movie classic The Princess Bride like never before by joining us for APL’s interactive movie event. Declare your vengeful intentions along with Inigo, show off your sword-fighting skills, and more. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Are you feeling a bit hungry?  Stop in at Meal in a Mug on Friday, July 20th at 10:00 AM in Gonzales.  Mugs aren’t just for coffee anymore!  Learn to cook with the press of a button at our teen Meal in a Mug program. Make your own pizza in a mug and take home mug recipes that would be great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!  Perfect for dorm rooms or late night snacking.

Finally, help us wrap up the summer at a Glam Rock Party on Friday, July 20th at 4:00 PM in Dutchtown.  Aqua Net and spandex make a comeback this year at our Teen End of Summer Glam Rock Party.  Come dressed as your favorite ROCK ICON, show off your moves, learn glam rock makeup tips, and more.  We’re partying like rock stars. . . glam rock stars!

It’s not too late to sign up for the Libraries Rock summer reading program when you stop in to participate in any teen event or online at myapl.beanstack.org.  Teens entering sixth grade through twelfth grade are eligible to join our reading program.  Any teen who is registered for the reading program can complete it by earning points and badge by attending any teen program or logging minutes read during the months of May, June, and July.  All teens who complete the reading program will receive a free Libraries Rock messenger bag, a bowling pass courtesy of Premier Lanes and will be able to spin our prize wheel for an additional prize.  Keep earning points and badges all summer to be eligible for our end of the summer drawing – An Amazon Fire Tablet.  For more information on summer programs for teens, call the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales at 647-3955, in Galvez at 622-3339, in Dutchtown at 673-8699, or in Donaldsonville at 473-8052.  All teen library programs are free and open to teens entering sixth grade through twelfth grade.
